A PERSON has died after being recovered from the waters of the Beauly Firth following an incident at the Kessock Bridge, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 1.45pm in response to a "report of concern for a person" in the water near the bridge.

A police spokesman said: "The person was recovered from the water and was pronounced dead a short time later.

"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

The Kessock Bridge was closed in both directions for about an hour while the emergency services responded to the incident.
