A Drumnadrochit man has admitted ill-treating two dogs and failing to feed them over a two-month period.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that a shih tzu called Teddy owned by 42-year-old Gavin Will, of Coiltie Crescent, had died and a collie, named Archie, had been re-homed.

Will was charged under the Protected Animals Welfare Act of causing the animals unnecessary suffering by acts or omission.

The first charge pertaining to Teddy stated that he failed to provide adequate care and nutrition whereby he became emaciated and that he failed to seek veterinary advice for a number of health conditions which included, emaciation, loss of muscle, matted hair and multiple scratches and cuts to the body.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to seek veterinary advice for Archie for a number of health conditions including loss of weight and loss of muscle, both between August 30 last year and October 30, 2023.

His lawyer David Patterson told Sheriff David Sutherland a background report may be useful.

The sheriff agreed before hearing the full facts and Will has to return to court on December 4 to be sentenced.
