No planned civic events in Highlands for coronation – yet
Highland Council is not planning any civic events for the coronation of King Charles III.
Details of official special events to mark the occasion were revealed yesterday including a concert at Windsor Castle on May 7, the day after the coronation at Westminster Abbey.
Also on May 7, people across the country are encouraged to stage Coronation Big Lunch street parties and on May 8 – an extra bank holiday – there will be a Big Help Out urging folk to volunteer for local causes.
When asked if the council is doing anything, a spokeswoman said: "We are not aware of any planned civic events for the coronation.
"Community event organisers would only contact the council if they require permission and/or possibly a temporary traffic restriction order if an event is to be held on a public road.
"I have asked officers to check but as yet, we are not aware if Highland Council has received any applications to date."

Some communities in the region staged Platinum Jubilee street parties last year but the council did not do any civic events to mark the occasion.
