THREE days have now passed since the most recently confirmed case of Covid-19 in the NHS Highland area.

The region's cumulative number of cases since the start of the pandemic remained at 383 when the latest daily update was posted this afternoon.

Twenty-three new positive tests for Covid-19 were reported across Scotland in the past 24 hours.

The number of people in Scottish hospitals receiving treatment last night was up marginally on the same point the previous day – increasing from 265 to 270.

However, the number of people in intensive care remained unchanged on four, and there were once again no new fatalities recorded among people who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

NHS Grampian, which has experienced a hot spot of new cases in recent days, added another 15 confirmed infections in the past 24 hours – almost two-thirds of all of Scotland's new diagnoses in that time window.

Since the Highlands reported their latest fresh case there have been almost 40 cases reported in Grampian.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland there were no fresh cases however, with NHS Tayside, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Eileanan Siar all reporting no change in their number of cumulative cases.
