FIVE days have now passed since NHS Highland last recorded any new positive tests for Covid-19, the latest daily update has revealed.

The health board area's cumulative number of cases since the start of the pandemic remained unchanged on 381 on Wednesday.

Much of the wider north of Scotland also reported no new cases in the past 24 hours, with the figures for NHS Shetland, NHS Orkney, NHS Eileanan Siar and NHS Tayside all remaining unchanged when the latest data was released.

However, NHS Grampian reported one new case overnight – taking its cumulative total of positive tests to 1446.

It was one of 22 newly-confirmed cases of Covid-19 reported across the whole of Scotland in the past 24 hours.

But the country's recent run of days without new fatalities has continued, with no further deaths reported in the past 24 hours among those who have tested positive for the virus.

The number of people in the country's hospitals who were receiving treatment for Covid-19 also dropped slightly – down from 264 to 260 last night. Of those, two were in intensive care last night.
