A new shop could open close to the Eastgate Shopping Centre after plans were lodged with Highland Council.

Applicant Robin Watson is seeking permission to change the use of a ground-floor flat on Stephen's Brae into a retail shop.

If approved, the property, number 20, would undergo internal modifications to knock through a wall to merge two existing rooms and the hallway into a retail space with counter.

One of the other rooms would be for staff use, with another used as a toilet.

The proposals only apply to the ground floor property.

It is not known what type of retail unit is planned for the building.
