The pastors were commissioned as part of the Inverness Street Pastor Service which has been running since 2008.

They took part in a special service at Culduthel Christian Centre, where they were formally commissioned into the service.

Mark Hadfield, operations manager for Inverness Street Pastors, said he was delighted to have these additional resources now available for the Inverness community.

“We have been waiting for some time to have this commissioning event, which had to be held back due to Covid restrictions, and we are very pleased to officially welcome these additional street and prayer pastors who have already been faithfully serving our communities throughout the pandemic,” he said.

“The Covid lockdowns have resulted in a worrying time for many, with increased mental health issues, and we are there to listen, care and help. We have street pastor patrols out in the daytime and night-time in the city centre and also in the early evening in Hilton.”

The street pastors are volunteers who patrol the city centre and surrounding areas offering assistance to people in need.
