Allison Howie has been appointed by Highland Council as headteacher for Bishop Eden Primary School in Inverness and will begin her new role in late November.

Councillor John Finlayson, the chairman of the education committee, said: “I would like to congratulate Allison Howie on her new role as headteacher for Bishop Eden Primary.

"Mrs Howie has previously been working to support our schools across Inverness and I am sure the staff, pupils, and surrounding community of Bishop Eden Primary will join me in welcoming her to the school.”

Mrs Howie currently works as an ASN teacher across three primary schools in Inverness. She previously worked as a principal teacher of ASN at Merkinch Primary and also as an ASN teacher and class teacher in Caithness and Sutherland.

She qualified with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Strathclyde University in Glasgow and she also has a Post Graduate Certificate (PGCE) in Inclusive Education from the University of the West of Scotland in Ayr.

Mrs Howie said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as headteacher of Bishop Eden Primary School and I am looking forward to meeting the staff, children and parents of the school and also its wider community. Bishop Eden is well known for its commitment to its pupils and families and I feel privileged to join this hard working team."
