Sandra Hogg takes on the top role having been a member of the club for around 15 years.

Sandra has been a keen dinghy sailor with her husband George, and in the past few years has been instrumental in developing coastal rowing with the club – now a very popular activity for all ages, with two St Ayles rowing skiffs regularly taking to the water.

Chanonry Sailing Club prides itself on offering a range of opportunities to get on the water, learn new skills and meet like-minded people.

Sandra said: “One of the big successes at the club in recent years has been broadening our offer, with new links made with wild swimming groups and lots of interest in stand-up paddleboards alongside our rowing programme and dinghy and cruiser sailing.”

The club is very keen to welcome newcomers and runs training for juniors and adults, as well as offering dinghies for members to use. Many local youngsters have come through the club’s training programmes over the years and gone on to great sailing successes.

Sandra added: “We are very proud of our history and believe we have a very bright future too.

“Covid has been very challenging but we have managed to still get on the water, socially distanced, using household bubbles for our safety support and one-way systems in our buildings for example. Safety is our top priority and, as restrictions ease, we are hopeful of a great summer of exciting activities at the club.”
