Manager of the new store David Chisholm (37) from Nairn, said the new venture also caters for sit-in customers, with room for more than 80.

It will employ 17 staff.

After presiding over a "soft opening" for friends and family members today the outlet officially opens tomorrow.

Mr Chisholm said: "We think we have a terrific site here.

"We have the superstore on our doorstep, and we are well placed to attract traffic off the busy distributor road that carries traffic between the A9 and A96.

"There are a lot of news homes being built in the area and Inverness Royal Academy is only a few hundred yards away.

"I'm told that the academy usually has a lot of after-school activity, and the Asda Starbucks would be an ideal place for parents to sit and relax while waiting to pick up their youngsters.

As well as operating drive-through service there is also an outside seating area.

"We have two of our big lollipop signs near the roundabout on the distributor road, so we think we will do well from passing motorists."

The Starbucks franchise company is Glasgow based OCO Westend Ltd which Mr Chisholm said is a public-spirited company which has become involved in helping local Inverness Foodstuffs, a group providing help, meals and company to the less well off.
