A COUPLE working to rebuild a fire-ravaged historic Loch Ness-side mansion have launched a fresh fundraising appeal to pay for stonework repairs.

Kyra and Keith Readdy, who are leading a charitable trust’s restoration of Boleskine House near Foyers, will seek new donations after recently completing a mass rubble clearance within the surviving walls.

It included the 200-year-old Georgian building’s famous oratory room, where 18,000 kg of fire-damaged material had to be removed.

Members of the Boleskine House Foundation bought the estate from Dutch owners last year after a blaze tore through the house in 2015.

A further fire in July last year, believed to have been started maliciously, destroyed surviving parts of roofing.

Previous owners included Aleister Crowley, the occultist and author, and rock musician Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin fame.

There is international interest in the building, as evidenced in donations to the charity’s Go Fund Me page which stands at £23,260 of a £220,000 target.

The fresh appeal, issued on social media, stated: “Like many charities, we are raising funds to help with restoration costs.

“We therefore today launch a new fundraiser to pay for stone work repairs.

“Please make a one-off donation to help if you can to https://www.boleskinehouse.org/funding-and-donations/.”

Those signing up for The Boleskine House Foundation’s monthly or annual membership before May 31 are also being promised two special gifts.
