Almost 40 bus services across Inverness have now been cancelled in less than a day after an operator announced further disruption on Monday afternoon.

Stagecoach Highland had already confirmed the cancellation of 23 separate journeys on a number of services this morning.

But in a further update shortly before 2pm, it added another 16 to the total.

The latest cancellations predominantly affect service numbers 2, 3 and 5, although one of today's No 6 buses between Raigmore Hospital and Inverness city centre is also affected this evening.

In all, the new cancellations feature five number 5 buses between the Queensgate and Hilton/Drakies; five number 3s - which run between Oakdene Park and Craig Dunain - and five number 2s between Woodside Village and Craig Dunain.

The latest cancellations mean that no fewer than 17 separate number 3 buses have been cancelled in Inverness on Monday alone.

Thirteen of the number fives have also been out of action.

As with the earlier cancellations, the latest disruption was due to "driver availability".

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: "Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. For live information please download the Stagecoach app."
