Nairn dog rescue charity holds its second successful fun day and show

A Nairn dog rescue charity has held another successful show at its Easter Hardmuir base.

Founder of Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue, Debra Rothery, said: “A big thank you to everyone who helped to make Sunday’s Tia Fun Dog Show a success.”

Best in show was won by Tiggy the collie, owned by James, and reserve best in show was Benny the Great Dane, owned by Kate.

There was a wide range of classes, including some that carried hilarious titles including best biscuit catcher and waggiest tail.

Other classes included golden oldie – over eight years, cutest puppy, best rescue, prettiest female, most handsome male, best child handler, and dog most like its owner.

Tia Rescue, founded in 1997 in the north of England, is an independent charity now based in the Highlands with a charity shop in Nairn and kennels at Easter Hardmuir.

In 2013 Tia Rescue extended its work to include helping heavy horses.

Tia Rescue moved to Easter Hardmuir Farm in 2022 to provide safety to abandoned greyhounds until they find their "forever home."

Earlier this year the charity welcomed customers to the Nairn shop, formerly occupied by Wendy’s Hoose.
