A Nairn community theatre company has announced that works are underway for their brand new show after a really successful first year running.

The C.A.S.T. (Community Acting & Singing Together) project was launched last year by the trio formed by Little Theatre veterans Jean Morrison, Karen Kemp and Dionne Monteiro.

Since then the group has had two sold out shows with the Christmas Panto in December and adult panto Spank & Stein in May, both raising money for local causes.

Their forthcoming production, It's a Wonderful Life, will be performed at Nairn United Reform Church in November, with all profits going to Dementia Care charity.

Ms Morrison said: “It's a Wonderful Life will be our third production - it’s a play about a radio station performing It's a Wonderful Life, and set in the forties. We will also be using 40's style sound effects, which is quite a challenge!”

So far, C.A.S.T. have raised more than £2500 for Team Hamish, Nairn County Football Club and the Seaforth Club, with 16 members involved both on and off stage.

On August 25 they will start casting for their forthcoming Christmas panto, Cinderella, which will be on show at Nairn Community & Arts Centre in mid-December.

Ms Morrison continued: “Our group is going from strength to strength, and considering the fact we have no premises or base, I think we do remarkably well!

“We are however hoping to find a generous local, who has a lock-up garage or large shed we could use for prop-making, as I will need quite a large space to make Cinderella's carriage!”
