AN urgent crowdfunding campaign to save Nairn Book and Arts Festival has raised almost £6000 in just a few days.

The well-established event, which has previously hosted names such as Iain Banks and Liz Lochhead, is set to be cancelled this year unless it can find £15,000 by May 1. Future festivals could also be in doubt.

Organisers are inviting donations of any amounts but all those giving £25 or more will be entered into a prize draw to win a golden ticket allowing free entry to all events. Those giving donations of more than £500 will automatically receive a golden ticket.

The festival, now in its 14th year, is regarded as one of the most important events in the Nairn area.
