Nairn Community and Arts Centre is to receive an £89,000 award to help it survive the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The award, to ward off the threat of insolvency and allow activity to restart as soon as possible, is part of a total of £4.74 million delivered to 59 venues by the Scottish Government’s Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund through Creative Scotland.

Other recipients include the Lyth Arts Centre in Caithness, which is to receive £97,000.

Creative Scotland chief executive Iain Munro said: “Despite the ongoing, detrimental impact that the Covid-19 pandemic is having on Scotland’s performing arts venues, and on culture as a whole, it is positive that we can offer funding to help venues navigate these extremely challenging times.”
