Police Scotland are urging members of the public to continue to report any suspicious activity despite two possible housebreaking incidents locally proving to be false alarms.

Earlier this week, police in Nairn appealed for information after reports of attempted burglaries in Nairn and Auldearn.

Following enquiries by officers, nothing criminal in nature was found.

Sergeant Craig Johnstone of Police Scotland, said: "Thankfully, on this occasion, both reports turned out to be false alarms, however, I would still encourage anyone to contact police if they believe a crime has been committed."
