TWO Nairn students cooked up a great project for young children in the community.

Nairn Academy S4 pupils Finlay Tebb and Gavin Patience have been working together to create a brand new mud kitchen for Rosebank Nursery.

The nursery had written to Nairn Academy asking for help in building a new one given the bad state of repair of its previous one.

Teacher Jacqueline Davidson said: “This project has been a great success and both boys are extremely proud of what they have achieved.

“Finlay and Gavin visited the nursery, took measurements and asked the staff what they would like.

“They then got in touch with Springfield Properties, who supplied the boys with some pallets they no longer needed.

“With the help of Derek Leith, the school technician, the boys set to and designed and built a mud kitchen. The boys only met once a week to work on their project so it took some time.”

Once completed some of the staff and children were invited to visit the school to see it.

Ms Davidson said one of the visiting groups started playing with it immediately.

A Rosebank Primary spokesperson said: “Thanks to the academy for all of their hard work, we can’t wait to use the kitchen.”
