Music tent at Eden Court in Inverness attracts 25,000 people

By Andrew Dixon

AROUND 25,000 people went along to a free outdoor pop-up venue in the grounds of Eden Court during the summer.

James Mackenzie-Blackman, chief executive of the Inverness venue, was proud of the achievement of the second annual Under Canvas initiative.

More than 150 traditional and Gaelic performers were due to be showcased over a seven-week period.

Mr Mackenzie-Blackman said it would return next year.

"Thank you for making this potentially mad idea a huge success," he said. "We’ll be back bigger and better, and for longer, in 2020."

Inverness councillors supported the scheme with a grant from the Inverness Common Good Fund which was set to cover around a third of the costs.
