Inverness multimillion-pound care home to welcome first residents in weeks; Parklands Care Homes confirms amid wider Highland expansion efforts
A major new multimillion-pound care home in Inverness is expected to welcome its first residents in mid-June, its owner has confirmed.
Parklands Care Homes is currently building a 58-bed care home, Pittyvaich, in Milton of Leys, which is expected to create around 120 jobs, including nurses, carers and ancillary support roles.
And, in an update to the Courier, it this week revealed that contractors Capstone Construction are expected to hand over the keys before May is out, with fit-out to follow and the first residents moving in from June 16.
To mark the occasion a community open day will be held at the site on Saturday, June 14 from 1pm to 4pm.
News the care home will be welcoming its first residents within the month, comes amid a wider effort to add almost 100 new care places to Parklands' Highland care homes portfolio.
As well as the 58 beds in the new Milton of Leys site, Parklands this week lodged plans to build two small extensions - adding four new bedrooms - to its Eilean Dubh care home on the outskirts of Fortrose in a bid to meet "growing demand".
That latter project, which will represent a £500,000 investment, is not the only expansion plan lined up for Highland care sites.
Parklands also recently lodged plans to create 12 additional bedrooms at Innis Mhor care home in Tain, and 10 more at Lynemore in Grantown-on-Spey.
Parklands' Managing Director Ron Taylor said: “We are seeing strong demand for care services across the Highlands, and we’re doing what we can to meet that urgent need by creating an additional 84 places in Inverness, Tain, Fortrose and Grantown. This investment will ensure that more older people can receive high quality care close to their families and communities.
“We are particularly excited to open our new home in Inverness, the largest purpose-built facility in the Parklands group. We have a fantastic new team in place and we’re looking forward to welcoming our first residents next month.”
