As part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Highland MSP David Stewart visited Moray Firth Training Group.

The firm in Harbour Road trains apprentices who are generally between 16 and 19 years old.

Over a three to four-year period it can have up to 100 apprentices through its doors and as well as training mechanics, and others from the garage industry, it also carries out first aid training.

Mr Stewart not only met the apprentices from the automotive training centre, but met Mark Ogilvie, the managing director, and James Hay, who is the Skills Development Scotland skills investment adviser.

The MSP said: “It was great to see the work carried out by this group and talk with the apprentices. Visiting this firm has strengthened my view that apprenticeships are much needed – not everyone needs a degree to get on and achieve a worthwhile career.

"I wish all the young people and the dedicated staff all the best for the future.”
