INVERNESS MP Drew Hendry told yesterday how he was caught up in the horror of the Westminster terror attack and personally knew the policeman who he saw die on Wednesday afternoon.

The SNP politician was in New Palace Yard when the knife-wielding terrorist was shot dead by security personnel and saw the unsuccessful attempts to revive hero policeman Keith Palmer (48), who had just been stabbed.

"It was a shocking thing to see," Mr Hendry said. "I will remember Keith as a cheerful and helpful man, someone who I often passed a few words with, coming and going over the past couple of years.

"One of the many heroes who protect us every day as we do our jobs. My thoughts remain with his family, his friends and colleagues, and with the families of the others killed and injured in this senseless attack."

Five people died and dozens more were injured during the worst terrorist attack on London for more than a decade.

A 14-strong party from Kinmylies Primary visited Parliament the day before the attack. They sent social media messages to say all were OK as they headed north again on Wednesday.
