A motorcyclist killed in a three-vehicle crash on the A9 at the weekend has been named by police.

He was Andrew MacPherson (63), from Cambridgeshire.

Police are still investigating the crash, which occurred at around 1.30pm on Sunday at a location roughly three miles north of the B847 Calvine Road junction.

The crash involved a white Hyundai Ioniq car and two motorcycles - a maroon and a blue Harley Davidson.

Mr MacPherson was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passengers of the car were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The road was closed for around seven hours.

A 50-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court yesterday (Tuesday).

Sergeant Willie Strachan, from Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts very much remain with the family and friends of Mr MacPherson at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash-cam footage and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting ‘incident number 1828 of Sunday, June 23’.
