A mother who helped raise thousands of pounds in memory of her son sadly died of cancer earlier today.
Susan Hey, along with her husband Sam and daughter Lily, established the Team Hamish charity to raise funds for cancer groups and to create a new splash park on the waterfront of their home town of Nairn.
A social media post by Team Hamish stated: "It is so tragically heartbreaking that I have to write this post – Hamish’s beautiful mum, Susan, lost her lengthy battle with cancer in the early hours of this morning having fought with unequivocal determination for the last five years.
"Susan will be desperately missed by all those whose hearts she touched through her gentle and open kindness.
"I take consolation in believing that Hamish has now been reunited with his mummy to send us rainbows together forever."
Hamish died aged eight in 2017 after a battle with cancer and his family have raised more than £50,000 in his memory since.
