Inverness-Aberdeen train journey saw Moray man sexually assault woman by burying head into her breasts

A train journey turned into a terrifying ordeal for two women when a fellow passenger stood up and buried his head into the breasts of one of them.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Scott Grant, of Main Road in Cummingston, mumbled and moaned, moving his head side to side, as he buried his face into the chest of his 60-year-old victim.

The victim could feel the 58-year-old’s lips on her skin above her clothing, the court was told.

The day after, Grant told police the incident occurred because he was “leaning over to hear”.

The incident happened on the evening of August 19, 2023, as the women returned to Moray after a day out in Inverness.

Fiscal depute Shamilah Ghafar told Sheriff Neil Wilson: "He was pushed away and he sat back down.

“She was in shock and told him: 'you are out of order. What the f*** are you doing? I am a 60-year-old woman. This is unacceptable.'

“She was crying."

Grant then got up and went to the toilet, followed by the two women who took photographs of him as he moved into another carriage.

Ms Ghafar said the incident was reported to the police the next day.

"He went to the police station himself and claimed the incident occurred because he was leaning over to hear what she was saying. He said he had a hearing aid."

Grant admitted the sexual assault and had sentence deferred until December 5 for a background report.

He was immediately placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
