Officers from Police Scotland's North East Police Division have confirmed an Inverness girl who was missing has been tracked down "safe and well".

The force had issued a public appeal after 16-year-old Courtney Merchant was reported missing.

She was previously last seen in the Highland capital on Sunday evening.

A spokesman said: "We can confirm Courtney Merchant (16), from Inverness, who had been reported missing in Aberdeen has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who helped with our earlier appeals."
