THE congregation of Crown Church are hoping their warm welcome will more than make up for the excessive temperature drop which their new minister has experienced since moving from Australia.

Rev Douglas Robertson and his wife Alison relocated from Melbourne on New Year’s Day.

Brought up in Glasgow and with a Divinity degree from Aberdeen, Rev Robertson (55) has spent the past 19 years as senior minister of the Scots’ Church in Melbourne.

His previous charge in Scotland was Appin and Lismore for about six years, during which time he conducted Sunday services on the mainland before crossing to the island of Lismore to take a service there.

Rev Robertson said: “The people here have been very patient with me because we wanted to wait until after Christmas to be with our three grown up children who have settled in Australia, before flying over.

“The warmth of our welcome to Crown Church has been tremendous, with members of the congregation helping fix things at our house.”

Rev Robertson’s induction service was unusual in that it was conducted by the Moderator of the Inverness Presbytery the Rev Douglas McRoberts who is also a member of the Crown Church congregation.
