Pupils at Millburn Academy have been told to wear face coverings more often from tomorrow.

Rector Johnny Croall has written to pupils, parents and carers thanking "everyone in the school community" for their commitment to new protocols since reopening after the coronavirus-enforced closure since mid-March.

He stated: "The reality is that despite the very best efforts of all education settings across Scotland, it is clear that the risk of Covid outbreaks is very real. Unfortunately there have been a number of cases in schools across Scotland this week and we are committed to continually adapting our practice to best manage the environment and the risk."

He added: "We are also making a change about our use of face coverings and feel this is an area which will help us further reduce the risk of transmission. As of Monday, August 24 we ask that all pupils (except those who have exemption) wear face coverings in the following situations; on the school bus; at all times when moving to information sharing or between classes; when using an indoor social space during break and lunchtime, except when eating; in class when asked to by a teacher or PSA."

Last week there were positive coronavirus cases involving a teacher at Kinmylies Primary and a pupil at Dalneigh primary.
