An Aviemore favourite has closed its doors temporarily because of the Covid crisis.

Miele's Gelateria in Grampian Road has posted its regrets:

"It's with a heavy heart we have made the tough decision to close down our Aviemore Parlour on a temporary basis.

"The current Coronavirus lockdown restrictions have made it impossibly difficult in what is already a difficult time of year in Aviemore to trade.

"With a significant drop in tourists to the area we decided we cannot sustain operating at a loss the whole winter, especially having missed Spring 2020 and most of Summer 2020."

The company has vowed, though, to come back stronger.

"And sooner, rather than later.

"We shall be reviewing re-opening on a regular basis."

The company statement promised to honour Christmas cakes and continue to take orders and deliver them for the festive season via its Inverness base.

More information will follow, the spokesperson said.

"Thank you for your support this year through it all See you soon."
