McDonald’s Nairn is putting a huge emphasis on community and charity events.

It comes after a switch in leadership to Iain Fyfe and his wife Sarah last month.

So far McDonald’s Nairn has sponsored Nairn County’s match against the Washington Huskies from the USA, where they handed out McDonald’s vouchers to supporters; and held an in-restaurant event to celebrate Nairn Pride – giving free ice cream to customers dressed in Pride colours.

The next event they have planned is for Mikeysline – a Highland-wide mental health charity which recently opened a Hive in Nairn.

Today and tomorrow, McDonald’s customers are invited to the restaurant to meet Buzz and Woody from Toy Story, with an opportunity to get a photo with the famous pair.

Iain said: “We wanted to arrange an event that the whole community could be a part of.

“Mikeysline is such a fantastic charity and one that is very close to our hearts.

“Mikeysline will also be doing mental wellbeing training with our staff at McDonald’s to make sure that we are supporting them as best we can.”

Discussing their decision to support Mikeysline, Sarah said: “I recently had the opportunity to visit one of Mikeysline’s Hives and hear about the incredible work they do in the Highlands.

“Having recently opened a Hive in Nairn, they are keen to raise awareness and make sure people in the area know about the support available.

“Anyone who is struggling can reach out for text-based support, one-to-one appointments, drop-ins and group sessions.”

At the event there will be a colouring competition for kids, and the winner will receive a £40 toy shop voucher. Buckets will be in store for collecting cash for Mikeysline, as well as a JustGiving page which will be posted on McDonald’s Nairn’s Facebook page.

Fundraising efforts for Mikeysline will continue throughout the year, with an event for young readers planned at the end of August in-line with the Nairn Book and Arts Festival.

Iain and Sarah are also passionate about the Nairn area and plan to do beach litter clean-ups quarterly.

The first clean-up is taking place on August 9 with McDonald’s staff teaming up with Nairn St Ninian Women’s Football Club, which also facilitate the restaurant’s free Fun Football programme.

Iain added: “We place a lot of emphasis on being a good neighbour and serving our community, which is why we are trying to join forces with local organisations and charities, in order to make a big impact in Nairn.”
