An entrance to Queensgate Arcade has been blocked off due to flooding today.

This comes after The Inverness Courier reported last week that Carr Gomm charity shop has been forced to close for several months due to sewage waste.

A passer-by said he could smell the waste from the street outside.

Highland Council's Inverness city centre area manager David Hass said: “Following problems affecting the drainage within the Queensgate Arcade of the Victorian Market, Highland Council and Scottish Water are working together with property owners to support further investigation, confirm responsibility and enable the situation to be resolved.

"Further work is planned for this evening and tomorrow evening in order to minimise impact on businesses as far as possible.

"Other entrances to the Victorian Market are unaffected and we would encourage customers to support local businesses while following any signage in place."
