Inverness man was wrestled to ground and punched in head by neighbour after asking if he was OK

A neighbour who went outside his home to investigate smashing noises coming from next door was attacked by the occupant after asking if he was OK.

The altercation occurred at about 9pm on June 27, 2024 in Waterloo Place when 25-year-old Reece Gordon became aggressive with the man and wrestled him to the ground, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Gordon struck several blows to the man's head before police arrived to arrest him following an anonymous call to report the incident.

Sheriff Gary Aitken noted that Gordon was currently on a drug treatment and testing order (DTTO).

Defending, Patrick O'Dea confirmed said: "He has significantly reduced his drug use."

Sheriff Aitken placed Gordon on another DTTO to run alongside and beyond his current one.
