Man tried to break into car in Inverness while its owner was still inside

POLICE are investigating after a stranger tried to gain access to a car in Inverness while its owner was still inside.

The man attempted to open the door of the vehicle while it was parked in Thornbush Road at around 3.50am today.

It is understood the owner had returned home from a night shift a few minutes earlier.

A police spokesman said: "Police in Inverness were made aware of the attempted theft from a vehicle in the Culloden area shortly after 3.50am.

"The incident happened while the car was parked in Blackthorn Road.

"An unidentified man unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to the vehicle while its female owner was still within.

"The woman was uninjured."

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 0590 of May 17, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
