Inverness man threatened rape over shared car-stooshie with Avoch cousin
Cousins fell out over a car which was being shared between them because one failed to keep up payments on the vehicle, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.
It resulted in abusive messages being sent on the night of February 13 this year, to 26-year-old Reece Gordon's relative in Avoch, threatening him with physical harm and a threat to rape a woman.
Sheriff Gary Aitken heard that Gordon of Friar's Street, Inverness turned up at the door of the Black Isle property, kicked the rear bumper and took air out of a tyre.
Gordon admitted threatening behaviour at Inverness Sheriff Court and was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody.
The sheriff told him: "You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself."
Gordon's lawyer, Patrick O'Dea said that his client accepted that his comments were "awful, disgusting and unacceptable. Drink and anger were responsible but it is no excuse.
"The vehicle was loaned to his cousin who was to make the payments on it but none were made and my client became upset."
