Inverness police find man slumped over steering wheel was 13 times the cocaine limit
Police were called to an Inverness supermarket car park following a report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a Ford Fusion with its engine running.
When officers arrived, they found 31 year old Georgi Stoichkov, now of Cromwell Street, Southsea, in an agitated state and decided to test him for drugs on December 12 last year.
Sheriff David Harvie heard that a swab tested for cocaine and a subsequent analysis of his blood showed that he was 13 times the limit of a cocaine metabolite in his system. The reading was 656mcg when the maximum allowed is 50mcg.
A search of Stoichkov's car also revealed seven packages of the class A drug, each weighing 0.8 grams.
He admitted attempting to drive with drugs in his system and possession of the narcotic.
He was fined a total of £865 and banned from driving for a year.
His lawyer, Patrick O'Dea, told Inverness Sheriff Court that his client had moved to the south of England, was staying with friends who were supporting him and "he has placed behind him his drug use."
