Man remains in 'serious condition' after rail track incident in Inverness

A man remains in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a train in Inverness.

The incident happened about 9pm on Saturday at the rail bridge which crosses the River Ness near Merkinch.

Police officers went to the scene after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "Paramedics also attended and a man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
