Man made threats to police officers after arrest
A man who has been plagued with mental health issues throughout his life landed himself in the dock after threatening police officers.
John Robertson (37) told police officers that he would “put a bullet in their head” on December 10 last year.
Fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told Sheriff Sara Matheson at Inverness Sheriff Court: “Police attended the address on matters no longer before court.
“Robertson began shouting and swearing at police on Church Street on the way to the police van. He also shouted and swore at members of the public.
“When in the police van he told one police officer that he would put a bullet in his head and end him and motioned to another police officer he would do the same to them.”
Robertson, of Church Street, Inverness, pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behaviour.
Sheriff Matheson fined him a total of £210.
Robertson’s defence solicitor, Duncan Henderson, said: “Those comments should not have been made.
“He has a long history of mental health difficulties. He is not wilfully uncooperative, he just struggles.”
