Inverness man made threats to police
A drug addict threatened to harm himself with a razor blade in the casualty department at Raigmore Hospital.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told Richard Jessop (33), of Blackwell Avenue, Culloden, was in Raigmore Hospital on February 25 when he behaved in a threatening manner.
Then on May 29, he became agitated in front of his mother Janice who called the police.
Fiscal depute Niall Macdonald told the court that “she was genuinely in fear of him.”
When officers arrived, Jessop produced a pocket knife and a bottle and threatened police with them.
He pleaded guilty to both offences of threatening behaviour. Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said that drugs were no longer an issue for his client but alcohol was, adding: “He is self-medicating for mental health problems and wants to rectify that. He regrets what happened.”
Sentencing Jessop to 18 months social work supervision, Sheriff Gary Aitken said: “Clearly he has issues which he needs to address and some support would be sensible.”
