A man has appeared in court in connection with a break-in at an Inverness convenience store.

Chalky’s, on Haugh Road, was broken into in the early hours of January 28.

Police have now confirmed that someone has since been arrested and charged in connection with the break-in and has now appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a break-in and theft at a premises in Inverness.

“The incident happened around 1.30am on Tuesday, January 28 on Haugh Road.

He made no plea and was committed for further examination by Sheriff Sara Matheson.

He was next expected to appear within eight days of that appearance.
