A 43-year-old man is on trial accused of sexually assaulting women in a property in Nairn.

Four of the alleged assaults are said to have taken place between July 2 and July 5, 2015. A fifth charge alleges that on various occasions he sexually assaulted another woman between June 1, and August 30, 2014.

It is claimed that on July 5, 2015, Christiano Ferreira, described as a prisoner in Inverness, abducted one woman, locked her in a cupboard and sexually assaulted her.

The other charges claim that for sexual gratification or humiliation purposes he groped the women, kissed or attempted to kiss them, handled their buttocks over their clothing and cuddled or attempted to place his arms around them and pulled them into his body.

The trial, before Sheriff Margaret Neilson at Inverness Sheriff Court, is expected to take four days.
