A man could not remember stealing items from a car in Ardersier after drinking a court has heard.

Christopher Gunn, of Lochalsh Court, was seen on June 28, 2019 approaching a car parked outside the Ardersier War Memorial Hall.

Fiscal depute Rowena Carlton told Inverness Sheriff Court the 21-year-old took advantage of the driver unloading items into the hall and being away from the unlocked vehicle.

She said Gunn was seen to take a brown waistcoat and a quantity of coins from the car and was challenged about this.

He returned the waistcoat but the coins were not recovered.

Defence solicitor Roger Webb said: “I have seen the CCTV and my client was completely out of it. I am not surprised he cannot remember this incident.”

Gunn was fined £300 by Sheriff Sara Matheson.
