A FISHERMAN who assaulted three police officers after spending a night drinking has been released on bail.

The incident took place at Max’s diner in Lombard Street, Inverness on December 8.

Scott Mackenzie (22) of Woodlands Court, Inshes, admitted assaulting one officer by punching him on the head and damaging his glasses, punching another on the head and kicking a female officer repeatedly on the body.

Solicitor Graham Mann told Inverness Sheriff Court Mackenzie could not remember anything about the incident, having spent the night drinking and watching boxing on TV.

“He has a record that will cause the court concern but has never been in custody,” he said.

Sheriff Chris Dickson said the offences were serious but agreed his record was limited and he was just persuaded to grant him bail.

Sentence was deferred for background reports until January 6.
