Man makes no plea in Inverness Sheriff Court over charges after van driven on wrong side of A9 dual carriageway at Kessock Bridge
A 49-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an incident involving a van that drove on the wrong side of the A9 carriageway at the Kessock Bridge.
Police were called to the Kessock Bridge at around 6.50pm on Wednesday after receiving “multiple calls” about a van driving into oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the dual carriageway.
The van was described by police as a white MAN box van with grey side curtains. Appealing for witnesses and drivers with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward, officers added that the vehicle was allegedly later seen to reverse into a white Renault Clio. The driver of the Clio was not hurt.
Slawomir Stiller, from Szczecin in Poland, appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on Thursday in connection with the incident.
He made no plea to charges of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, assault and threatening or abusive behaviour
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He will appear again within the next eight days.
