Sentence has been deferred on a 60-year-old Inverness man who failed to disclose his savings had exceeded the government maximum so he could qualify for Universal Credit.

Berwyn Price, of Kirk Brae, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted obtaining £18,000 of the benefit between October 6, 2020 and September 5, 2023 when he was not entitled to it.

Sheriff Robert Frazer called for a background report before hearing the facts from fiscal depute Sophie Marshall and Price will re-appear on July 16.
