Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was seriously injured in a car accident in Nairn yesterday.

The 91-year-old man was not in either the red Mazda or black Honda which collided at the junction of Thurlow Road and Seafield Street at around 5pm.

Sergeant Kate Park said: "The pedestrian was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to please come forward. If you have a dashcam, you may have captured footage which could assist our investigation."

The roads were temporarily closed while police assessed the scene.
