All the glitz, glamour and unparalleled talent of the West End is heading for Inverness next month as a leading charity seeks to provide something truly spectacular for its latest fundraiser.

Cancer support charity Maggie’s Highlands is bringing six performers to town for Maggie’s at the Musicals - two-and-a-half hours of songs from leading shows including Les Miserables, the Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, Jersey Boys, The Lion King and more.

The charity provides vital support to those dealing with a cancer diagnosis as well as their families and is hoping the event will be every bit as successful as their other headline-grabbing efforts including the popular Run the Runway at Inverness Airport, which had it last outing in 2023 .

“This is the kind of entertainment we have included as part of out Golf Day dinner in the past,” said Andrew Benjamin, the charity’s fundraising manager.

“People have asked us off the back of that if we could do something similar but on a bigger scale - so that’s what we are offering here, by public demand!

“We’ve got a great venue in the Drumossie Hotel Ballroom which will be transformed into a theatre for the evening and we know it’s going to be an amazing night. As well as two-and-a-half hours of top musical performers the evening also includes a VIP drinks and canapes reception.”

He added: “As a charity that needs just over £500,000 a year just to run our everyday services we obviously rely on donations for a lot of that, so we clearly are hoping for a great turnout.

“But as with all our events we do like to offer something special, something new that will really entertain and amaze and stay with people for a long time afterwards - and how often do you get the cream of the West End turning up in Inverness?

“It’s a real exclusive.

“Some of those who will be performing have been up here for us for other events. They love the Highlands and they love what Maggie’s does so they’re more than happy to lend us their voices for the cause!

“The latest statistics show that one in two of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives and so the range of support that Maggie’s offers across pretty much the whole of the Highlands is absolutely vital.

“We’re there from the point of diagnosis for practical advice about finances, benefits and so on to providing psychological support for friends and family affected by that diagnosis, as well as the person with cancer themselves, because the impact is felt so widely.

“We can’t do all that without the support of the public but in return we want to give them something truly spectacular - and value for money - which is what Maggie’s at the Musicals is.“

Maggie’s at the Musicals takes place on Saturday, October 19 at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness.
