SAM Douglas, from Inverness, lives with a genetic fault LMNB1 which has also led to cerebral palsy, epilepsy and global development delay.

Only eight children in the world have been diagnosed with it.

The Afternoon with Tam Cowan event will take place at the Kingsmills Hotel on August 29, where guests can enjoy a three-course lunch, auction and an afternoon of laughs.

Family and friends started fundraising a few years ago to enable Sam to undergo specialist therapies in order to help him live the best life he can.

Therapies include intensive physiotherapy which helps Sam with his mobility and building core muscles which are important for his continued health.

However, these services are not available on the NHS so the family continue to fundraise.

Sam’s aunt Nicola McAlley said “This will be the third time Tam Cowan has generously given up his time to host a fundraiser for Sam and we cannot thank him enough. The previous events have been hilarious and we can’t wait to welcome him back to the city once again.

“We are so thankful for all the wonderful local support for Sam.”
