A YOUNG Inverness talent said winning a scholarship is a big step forward to achieve her dreams of studying in London.

Amy Beattie (15) is one of the three winners of the scholarships that TFX Performing Arts Academy is running in partnership with the Inverness Courier.

A pupil at the school for more than 11 years, Amy is dreaming to go to London to follow her passion for musical theatre.

She said: "I am very inspired by West End actors and actresses and show. When I have been down to London to see a show I would always look where everyone went to school, that is what kinda sparked it for me.

"I would love to go to Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Art, in London Woking and study musical theatre there.

"This scholarship is such a great opportunity for me, as I do so many classes! To win something like this is really big for me.

"It has really pushed me and professionally, I feel much more that yes – I can do it and go to London!"

The Millburn Academy pupil, who performed in this year's production of Legally Blonde in spring, will also star in the panto at Eden Court in December as part of TFX's performance company.

She said: "I can't wait to start the rehearsals for it, it's such a great opportunity.

"Having Eden Court here is so special, I feel that we are so lucky in the Highlands to have such a good opportunity to learn to be on stage, and being on stage from a very young age.

"When you go to London, some of the stages are so big, but then there are also smaller theatres. Eden Court has really helped, and now I find being on stage quite relaxing!"

A busy time for Amy, who is working to sit her Nat 5 exams this year, alongside spending four days a week at TFX.

She said: "I have one day of the the week which is all about homework! It's quite full on but I have been growing up doing it so I am used to balancing this."

Between musical theatre, jazz, commercial and performance company classes, she also finds time to help teach the younger pupils on Saturdays.

"It feels like I was that age two days ago," she said. "I feel like I was taught by older pupils yesterday and we swapped over!"

"TFX means a lot to me. I am here four days of the week, I basically live here! But I have been coming here for such a long time that it has almost become a part of me.

"The teachers really inspiring, everyone is so welcoming it's just a really nice feel! It's like having a second family."
