Loch Ness road resurfacing works will close the A82 north of Alltsigh overnight from October 19-22 and November 2-12 according to BEAR Scotland
The A82 along Loch Ness will be closed overnight for resurfacing works just north of Alltsigh from October 19-22 and November 2-12, according to BEAR Scotland working on behalf of Transport Scotland.
It is the second round of works in the area after an operation to remove loose rocks and debris from the rock slope above the road as well as rock reinforcement and the installation of rock mesh.
The “essential surfacing improvements” will take place in two phases.
The first phase of works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night from the evening of Sunday October 19 until the morning of Wednesday October 22.
The second phase of works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night from the evening of Sunday November 2 to the morning of Wednesday November 12.
Throughout both phases, a full closure with amnesties will be in place each night on the A82 to protect road users and road workers.
Amnesties, where traffic will be escorted through the work site, will be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am.
Apart from those times, the A82 will be fully open with a 30mph speed restriction as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
No work will be undertaken in either phase on Friday or Saturday nights and access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 at Lon Na Fola, North of Alltsigh will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.’
“The use of convoy traffic management during working hours is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
