Lifelong fan Liam MacLeod takes positives from Caley Thistle's first point of the season
Inverness Caledonian Thistle registered their first league point of the season on Saturday and ended a run of six consecutive defeats after a 1-1 home draw against Dunfermline Athletic.
However, the Caley Jags who took the lead through Nathan Shaw were on course to take their first win in the 2023/24 campaign before Chris Hamilton's equaliser on the 80th minute.
Lifelong supporter and ex ballboy Liam MacLeod (26) attended the game at the Caledonian Stadium and noted many positive signs in comparison to recent games.
"We were good in spells in the first half and moved the ball well from defence into three in midfield: Carson, Gilmour and Anderson; who helped create chances for the more attacking players.
"Shaw’s goal early on was the Catalyst towards a good first half and opened up the game.
"Second half I can’t fault the players effort for trying to get that second goal but it just wasn’t to be.
"Brooks on another day would have had two goals had it not been for close calls with offsides and Bray went close with a couple of efforts."
Liam also highly-rated the performances of new signings Morgan Boyes and Max Anderson who started the match.
"Anderson and Boyes in particular were stand outs from the game.
"The teams performance was an improvement on the previous games and the additions of Boyes and Anderson slotting straight in has looked to give the team a well needed boost."
Despite the point, the Caley Jags remain planted to the bottom of the Scottish Championship and Liam believes that earlier substitutions could be crucial to help the team hold on when leading again.
"For the results to change and to get that first win on board, I personally feel changes during the game need to be done earlier on.
"Dunfermline changed their players earlier and it made an impact to their team.
"One player that could be key to that is Aaron Doran who can give the team that knife edge passing and brilliant movement to help create chances in the final third with his quality he has."
Liam did concede that despite the improvements he and other fans know that results need to change, and quick, before the team find themself in trouble this season.
"Ultimately the results need to change quickly even this early on in the season as we cannot let any more distance between the top and us.
"I do believe we have the players to do well and go on a run and turn this form around as we have done in previously.
"New players coming into the team need time to gel but unfortunately football is a results business and this will put pressure on the players soon."
